BLACKWOOD STATION
Blackwood Station is a musical ensemble from Richmond, VA exploring the boundaries of folk, psychedelia, and rock n roll. “Ian makes an emphatic mission statement, a collection of songs that retain a refreshing and rejuvenating feel, ebbing and flowing between the worlds of alternative rock, new Americana, and technicolour psychedelia with a seamless ease.”
–Aldora Britain Records E-Zine #303
“On their latest album, Blackwood Station takes a laid-back, psychedelic approach that heavily evokes the late 1960s. Textures are lush, and the atmosphere is dreamy”
“There are shades of James Taylor and other mid-20th century singer songwriters in this sound. The sincerity in the bluesy connotations of the song make it easy for listeners to connect.”
-Greg Jones, Eartothegroundmusic, 2023 Song Of The Year List, #10-1
“The laid back self-titled debut album by Richmond based folk group Blackwood Station scratches every folk itch; steel guitars, heartfelt lyrics sung by a homey voice, and just the right amount of experimentation thrown in for a bit of variety.”
-Andrew Bonieski, RVA Mag, Sound Check
